About the SDG Business Pioneers Award
The Sustainable Enterprises Award is a national competition, open to all enterprises operating within Albania, regardless of size or the industry in which they carry out their commercial activity.
The Sustainable Enterprises Award aims to identify and recognize enterprises that show a special commitment to sustainability and contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
We are looking for Albania’s leaders, enterprises that drive positive change through their operations, products, services, and overall business practices.
The awards will consider the following:
Core Business Activity and Operations: Assessment of the sustainable and circular economy practices the enterprise adopts in supplier relationships, employee rights, energy efficiency, waste management, packaging, and logistics, etc.
Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) Policies and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR):
Assessment of any additional initiatives undertaken by the enterprise, separate from its core activities, aimed at mitigating the negative impacts of business operations and/or creating positive change in society. These constitute ESG and CSR initiatives, as well as strategic partnerships for sustainability.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?
The Sustainable Development Goals are a set of 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015. They provide a comprehensive framework for addressing the world’s most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. The SDGs serve as a roadmap for governments, organizations, and individuals to work together, mobilize resources, and act toward building a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future for all.

Who can apply?
- Enterprises that are registered and operate in Albania.
- Enterprises that are actively working toward one or more Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Enterprises that can demonstrate their sustainable achievements.
Applicants will be classified and evaluated in 5 different categories:
- Micro (1-9 employees)
- Small (10-49 employees)
- Medium (50-249 employees)
- Large (250+ employees)
- International (if part of an international group of enterprises)

The SDG Pioneer Albania Award is organized as part of the United Nations Joint Programme “Business Partnerships and Solutions for the SDGs.” The project is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and implemented by UNDP, FAO, ILO, and UNIDO in Albania.
